The Warm This Winter Wednesdays logo. It is made up of white text on a black rectangular background reading "Warm This Winter", with a graphical representation of assorted rooftops sticking out above it, and the word "Wednesdays" in black below in a handwritten style font. There is a line drawing of a tea or coffee cup next to "Wednesdays".

For the fourth winter in a row, the high cost of energy is leaving many of us cold. So let's join with others in our communities to keep warm and call for lasting change.

What is it?

‘Warm this Winter Wednesdays’ is a call to come together with others in your community, keep each other company in a warm space, while also discussing how to take action on the energy crisis in your local area. Whether family, friends, neighbours, or people you’ve not met before, WTW Wednesdays is for everyone. And while we’re hoping people will coordinate meetings/events on the same day each week to highlight the range of action happening across the UK, they can be any day of the week!

We’re calling on you to come together with those in your community and organise coffee mornings, meetings, and events in villages, towns and cities up and down the UK. These events will bring people together for mutual support and be a place to share ideas for how we can tackle the energy crisis together. By displaying community solidarity and power, we can show we are not alone in this, we have the solutions to the energy crisis, and they need to be implemented now to tackle fuel poverty and the climate crisis together.

Why now?

Many of us are really worried about getting through this winter, especially given the recent cut to winter fuel payments for pensioners, and feeling the strain of several years of eye-wateringly high bills. We want to create spaces where people can feel less alone over the winter months, while also feeling empowered to take action. It’s a chance to come together, strengthen community bonds, and show support for lasting change.

These cards are a great way to encourage people to share their stories, hopes, fears, or demands, by writing them down in the blank space inside the hot water bottle shape. You could take photos with them, bring them to your local MP, or display them somewhere!
